Announcing the Your Vote, Tu Futuro Series!

Welcome to the website for Your Vote, Tu Futuro, a web-series dedicated to promoting a higher turnout of Latino voters. We’re incredibly excited to be able to offer this series to the public for free, and wanted to provide some further information on how this series came to be launched.

The idea for this series began in 2013, when Rollin Gary was working to register voters with Dallas Area Interfaith, a group with a long term project emphasizing the registration of Latino voters. Gary became convinced that more education was necessary, and worked with Dallas County Elections to get sample poll materials to show potential voters what to expect.

“It became obvious that more was needed,” says Gary. “I have been talking to people for three years, with people saying it was a great idea, but (there was) no funding. It was not until my wife mentioned it to Jan Sanders that that changed. A month or two later she called Catalina and said (that she) had someone willing to fund the project.”

At that point, we were off, and set to work writing the series! The buildingcommunityWORKSHOP ([bc]) was hired to write, direct, produce, and edit the series. We conducted a series of focus groups with those working to register Latino voters - and with young Latinos - to craft the our message, style, and structure. This July, we will begin releasing the videos in this series online, once a week, for eight weeks. We can’t wait to share these video with you!
